We’ve launched a satirical campaign with LADbible Ireland to highlight the absurd reality that Ireland’s outdated, pre-internet hate speech laws offer less protection to real people than the EU’s heritage protections do for leprechauns. With 81% of Irish adults experiencing online abuse, we’re inviting the public to “adopt leprechaun status” in protest, signing up online or at our pop-up booth in Dublin. Through an animated film and social activity, we contrast Ireland’s friendly image with the unregulated online hate people face daily, urging the government to modernise legislation and finally protect citizens as well as it protects folklore.
